UR20
Collaborative Robot UR20
Universal Robots is the world leader in cobots - collaborative robots. It is the fastest growing branch of robotics in the world.
The UR arms are light and have been fitted with safety features allowing them to work with people. They are also very flexible and easy to program. This opens up a whole range of applications; no wonder these robots can already be found in many factories in the world.
Colleges and universities often use UR arms for teaching and research.

UR20 is capable of lifting loads weighing up to 25 kg. The set includes a 12” graphic teach pendant and a controller with additional inputs/outputs allowing for integration with other devices.
The arm can be equipped with additional accessories, for example:
- 2- or 3-finger gripper
- Pressure gripper (electric or pneumatic)
- Miniature conveyor belt for teaching
- Camera
- Automatic screwdriver
Easy to learn Programming
The included graphic teach pendant with PolyScope is a great opportunity for entry-level programming. Beginner students may learn programming robot’s movement and implement it. UR20 is also compatibile with ROS/ROS2, so advanced students might train their skills as well.
Typical learning scenarios
The UR20 provides a reach of 1750 mm and maximum payload up to 25 kg, which gives opportunity to demonstrate industrial processes, involving larger components or extended robot workspaces.
The most popular apllications of the cobot UR20 are:
- Paletising and depaletising,
UR20 may be programmed to place objects on pallets inside a storage and unlodad already full storage units. - Picking and placing parts on a moving conveyor belt,
- Welding.
Safety first
Every Universal Robots’ cobot may be programmed with custom safety rules, adjusted to individual needs of a lab or workplace. UR cobots have built-in safety technologies, including force and collision detection. However, in a practical setup, the ability to operate without additional safety fencing depends on the configuration of the entire system and the risk assessment performed.
What teaching and research applications can the UR20 be used for?
The UR20 can be used for teaching robot programming, trajectory planning and optimization, object manipulation, palletizing and machine tending. Its long reach also makes it possible to build advanced laboratory setups covering several work areas.
Can the UR20 be integrated with other laboratory equipment?
Yes. The UR20 can be integrated with grippers, cameras, sensors, conveyors, and other laboratory equipment. Its communication interfaces also allow the robot to be connected with control systems and industrial automation equipment.
What does the set include?
The provided set includes: UR20 robotic arm, a control box, a teach pendant (3PE is optional), a power cable and a cable between the arm and the control box, as well as full technical documentation.
