The Continuous Processes Teaching Stationwas designed to demonstrate various aspects of continuous process automation systems. Students have the opportunity to implement various algorithms that control level, temperature, flow and other variables. The construction uses mechanical and electronically controlled valves along with analog and digital sensors. They all enable students to experiment with many technologies popularly used in industry.  

Optionally, the station is also available in IO-Link communication version. 

Technical data: 

  • Construction made of aluminum profiles (40 × 40 series).  
  • Common sensor set (configurable signals 4 … 20 mA or 0 … 10 V): 
  • 2 x pressure transducer 
  • Flow meter 
  • Electronic level sensor with a probe 
  • Temperature Converter with probe 
  • Set of 3 solenoid proportional valves (analog control) 
  • Set of 3 manual poppet valves for simulating blockage and leakage from installation  
  • Water heating unit equipped with thermal protection, preventing the heater from switching when the tank is empty. 
  • Self-priming pump with integrated pressure switch, expansion tank and reducer. 
  • The hydraulic system is made of transparent PVC, enabling to analyze the flow of fluids.  
  • The set includes a Siemens S7-1200 controller with a STEP 7 license 
  • KTP700 HMI panel 
  • Siemens LOGO! 12/24RCE controller with display and DM16 24 expansion module (LOGO! Version) 
  • Siemens S7-1215C DC/DC/DC controller with STEP7 Basic software (version S7-1200) 
  • Double DB37 connector for connecting an external controller (DB37 version)
